Cheops Location:

Giza - 9.3 miles from downtown Cairo .
The only surviving wonder of the seven wonders of the ancient world ,The great pyramid of Giza built for king Khufu (Cheops)to be his last resting place during the 4th dynasty of the old kingdom, the height of the great pyramid is 479 feet which is equal to a 42 story building,it was the tallest structure on earth until Eiffel tower was built in 1889.Around 2,700,000 blocks of local limestone were used in the construction ,the volume of these blocks is enough to build 35 Empire state buildings and these blocks are considered to be the biggest blocks ever moved by human-beings on our planet (the smallest one weights 2.7 tones and the biggest one goes up to 20 tones). It was estimated that 100.000 Egyptian well-trained workers were involved in such a huge and highly-organized construction project for a 3 months shift on a rotating basis for 21 years. The great pyramid of king Cheops is an overwhelming result of very sophisticated astronomical calculations the four sides of the pyramid are perfectly corresponding the four cardinal points and the side that has the entrance is facing very precisely the true north.
